Faith in humanity

What made me happy today? Having some faith in humanity restored.
Sometimes I think there's not much hope for humanity. But on occasion I come across something that makes me think there might be hope after all.
This video for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=z0d1ydu7eSA It shows a woman in a subway station passing out and falling on the tracks, with a subway train approaching. The man jumping after her is an off-duty cop. He apparently heard the woman hit the tracks and just jumped after her. Other people in the station immediately tried to alert the subway driver, who managed to stop in time. The woman was saved, because someone who probably doesn't even know her, risked his own life to save her. He's a hero. Yes, he's a cop and he's supposed to protect people. But still...
Heroes are everywhere, as the security camera footage in this video shows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQMbJ5XUR68 Always makes me smile :-)
And to show that the world isn't such a bad place after all, I'm going to end with this article: http://www.buzzfeed.com/expresident/pictures-that-will-restore-your-faith-in-humanity
Heroes come in many forms, no matter their age, sex, skin color or whatever. When people help other people, it makes the world seem like a happier place. A better place for humanity. And isn't that a good thing?
