What a match!

What made me happy today? What a match!
As you all know, I'm a volunteer nurse for my local Red Cross department. We are always present when the local football team is playing. But today was a bit more adrenaline-fueled than the previous match I went to.
The match started off okay, pretty calmly. 39 minutes in to the match, Cerigioni tackles Carcela from behind. This means a red card for Cerigioni, who has to leave the field. After that, things got heated. And then, this happened. About one meter from where I was sitting. The commentary is in Dutch, but it's quite clear what happened, even if you don't understand what they're saying. Basically, Ruytinx tackles Carcela whose ankle bends at an odd angle, earning Ruytinx a yellow card. Ruytinx grins, and bumps his knee lightly against Carcela's face. Carcela jumps up, and slaps Ruytincx in the face, which causes the referee to give Carcela a red card. And that's when all hell broke loose.
The players were screaming at each other, pushing and shoving. The trainers of both teams were furious. The people in the audience started throwing things (oddly enough, mostly socks). The referee tried to cool things down, but it took a bit of time. Carcela was carried of the field, but not by us, even though we were on stand-by. I think it was a good thing the first half was almost over at this point.
It's times like this I'm really happy we're trained on what to do in this kind of situation. Grab your gear, grab your helmet and stay out of it.
But I must admit, it was exciting to see this happen from such a short distance :-)
The match, by the way, ended with 0 - 0.
