What made me happy today? I did not see that coming. (See what I did there? No? Keep on reading, I'll explain!)
Many months ago I wrote this blog about one of my all-time favorite webcomics. Dominic Deegan, the grumpy seer, created by Michael Terracciano (aka Mookie).
On May 24th of this year, after 11 (!) years, Dominic Deegan ended. Michael started working alongside Garth Graham to create the wonderful Star Power. A few weeks back, I started re-reading Dominic Deegan, and I was thinking about how glad I am it's still online and how sad I'd be if it goes online.
Now, somewhere, someone must have heard this, because a bit later (Nov. 25th) Michael announced that he'd be releasing the first parts of Dominic Deegan as an omnibus. And on December 2nd, it was finally time to pre-order. Which, of course, I did that same morning. Du-uh.
But what I didn't see coming was that I'd get a very nice thank you email from Michael with a picture of Sparky (Dominic's alliteration loving, smart-ass, 'death from above' cat). That made my whole day! Plus, the 'I did not see that coming' is referring to the fact that Dominic is a seer, and that the email it came from is scrymail.
If you love Dominic Deegan, head on over to the store and pre-order your copy at a special price (until Dec 31st, after that the price will go up)! If you don't know Dominic Deegan, head on over and check it out. It's amazing!

Mom
What made me happy today? Mom!
It's mother's day today!
Moms. Is there anything they can't do? Mine seems to do it all. She's always been there for me and my sister, good times or bad. Yes, we have our differences but everyone does. Otherwise life would be pretty boring. I know I'm very lucky to have the mom I have :-)
So to all the moms out there: this is your day. You've earned it, so enjoy it!
And the rest of you I wish a nice Sunday! Don't forget to call your mom ;-)

QT with my GD
What made me happy today? Spending some serious quality time with my goddaugter.
She's so precious :-) she recently started to walk and is starting to talk as well. The words she uses most are car, and dad.
She is almost 15 months old, and a very happy kid most of the time. She makes me laugh, and of I'm feeling sad she'll always cheer me up.
Basically, I love her to bits :-) so it's nice I got to spend some serious quality time with her, my sister and my brother in law.
She makes me so happy :-)

Time waits for no one
What made me happy today? The girl who lept through time.
The girl who lept through time is one of my all-time favorite anime movies. It has a great story, is visually very pleasing and plays on your emotions. A lot.
The most famous quote from the movie is probably 'time waits for no one'. And it's true. Our time here on earth is short. You never know what will happen the next day. It could all be gone in the blink of an eye. So tell the people that matter to you that they matter. Tell the people you love that you love them. Don't ever leave anything unsaid. Life is beautiful, but frail as well. So make sure you said everything you wanted to say to the people you care about. You never know when it's the last time you'll see them. You don't want to go through life thinking about what could have happenend if you had only said this or that.
Okay, enough sappy stuff :-) There's a lot of AMVs based on this movie as well. Almost all of them are very sad or dramatic. But a friend once sent me this one. It's more of a slapstick one, and the song used is one about sheep. Cheers me up every time!
So enjoy the clip, be sure to watch the movie if you have the time (keep a tissue close) and have fun!

Romance
What made me happy today? Romance!
I'm a sucker for romance. Always have been! But I must admit that recent years have taught me to be more realistic in my romantic ideas.
Besides, science and realism can be romantic too! Like one of my favorite xkcd strips for example. Scientific, but also cute, sweet and romantic. Or the guy who proposed to his girlfriend, by writing a research proposal.
And then there is this. Made me laugh so hard! It might not be very romantic, but it is absolutely realistic I think...
Or how about some Portal hugs? Right this way :-)
Or maybe you prefer a more economic approach? In that case, this is the link for you.
Romance comes in many forms. And while I like to watch the standard Hollywood romantic movies on occasion, I'm perfectly happy with my own geeky, nerdy, sciency, realistic romance :-)

4Play
What made me happy today? 4Play!
And for those of you with dirty minds, no not that. It's the new Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio CD!
Two weeks ago I did a post about it. In it I mentioned that I immediately ordered a copy. Well, I waited and waited.
I had an otherwise pretty crappy day today, but when I came home and emptied the mailbox, my spirits were instantly lifted. A package from Out of Line music! Finally, 4Play had arrived.
So I ran up the stairs, ripped open the envelope and put the CD in my pc to give it a listen. Bottom line: I love it. Now I can't wait for the new full CD to come out...
It's yet again very ORE. It's epic, dramatic, emotional, with a decent side of depravity and debauchery.
Want to order the CD yourself? You can buy it from the Out of Line shop. It's also available on iTunes. The lyrics to the songs can be found on the ORE Facebook page
All that's left to say now is: amazing job ORE, and thanks for yet again creating such a marvellous piece of music! I'll be listening to 4Play for the rest of the evening.

Happy New Year!
2013 has finally arrived, and with it, this blog :-)
This is my resolution for 2013. Each day I will post one thing that made me happy in this blog.
Why? Well, the last two years were pretty rough for me so I decided it was time to focus on the good things in life.
What made me happy today? Well, I guess that that is pretty obvious! It's a new year, filled with new chances, opportunitues and all that good stuff. I'm going to try to make 2013 my year! And I'm very hopeful today, let's hope it stays that way. plus, I got to spend New Years Eve with one of my best friends. We had some nice dinner, watched some movies and the AC/DC concert. I had a blast, hope you all did too!
